Announcement: Senior Developer - Java & Software Design

Traackr (www.traackr.com) is a rapidly growing start-up focused on building-out its core search engine technology.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
We are seeking a Senior Developer with excellent Java & Software Design skills. Experience working with large data sets, large data storage systems (e.g. Hadoop/HBase) and search engines is a huge plus (but lack of it is not a deal breaker); if not experienced in this problem domain, this individual should be eager to and most importantly have the ability and experience to quickly catch up. The most critical asset needed is a solid project delivery background. Willingness to get hands dirty with all aspects of development is also a must (including but not limited to Linux environment administration, code deployment and even UI coding such as JavaScript/HTML or PHP if needed).
REQUIRED CORE SKILLS
- 5+ years of active Java experience (i.e. continuous back-to-back projects)
- Spring Framework
- Extensive experience using Open Source projects and interacting with their communities to find answers to issues
- Experience working with and administering Linux systems
- Should know how to effectively work in teams of equally skilled individuals
- Should be a self-starter and be able to drive their own work without much supervision
ADDITIONAL USEFUL EXPERIENCE
- Experience with non-RDBMS data storage systems (e.g. Apache Hadoop's HBase)
- Experience working with very large data sets
- Experience working with or designing SOA systems
- Experience working with Maven as a build system
- Experience with good continuous integration practices
- Experience working in teams practicing Agile development principles
- Experience developing on Amazon EC2
- Experience with SAAS projects
- Experience leading small development teams
NICE TO HAVE
- Comfortable with UI coding just as much as back-end coding (e.g. HTML/PHP/JavaScript)
- Groovy and Grails or similar convention-over-configuration frameworks (e.g. Rails, CakePHP, Symfony PHP, etc).
