Announcement: Software Architect/Technical Lead


Responsibilities

o        Direct the work of dedicated engineering staff, including development and SQE resources.

o        Guide the design and organization of the software; ensure appropriate separation of concerns; design suitable solutions to enterprise scale/quality applications (app security, domain and object model, ORM, transactional consistency, etc). 

o        On critical components, serve as an individual contributor, designing and developing software.

o        Oversee vendor/partner software development activities, including design and code reviews as needed, ensuring strong ownership of Pearson IP.

o        Ensure that work efforts meet Pearson standards, including application security, coding practices, supported technology stack, deployment and operational needs, test automation and test coverage, and performance.

o        Interface with central LTG Architecture team to ensure alignment with technology strategy, consult as needed on architecture issues, conduct regular architecture reviews and ensure refactoring is completed as needed to address identified issues.

o        Play aa lead role in agile practices for the team, advocating technical investments as needed, managing technical debt, supporting others and mentoring in the agile process, contributing strongly to estimation/planning practices, retrospectives.  Work closely with product and project management, as well as the PLS VP of Digital Product Development, in shared responsibility for on time, quality software deliverables.
